About The Position

Responsible for primary environmental compliance interface with operations. Perform facility walkdowns to monitor, report and document the environmental compliance status of the DFLAW activities to prevent compliance issues. Emergent/high priority document review/approval to ensure environmental compliance is maintained for uninterrupted operations. Serve as Environmental point-of-contact assigned to ensure that work is performed in compliance with environmental permits, procedures and regulations. Track environmental oversight activities and coordinate reporting and notification activities. Review Dangerous Waste Permit and air permit required inspections checklists to ensure accurate and compliant documents are generated and retained. Review daily data summaries and alarms from permitted equipment and instruments for anomalies, response and reporting. Perform non-radioactive air required EPA Method 9 or Method 22 visible emission monitoring services for various permitted emission units. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or science field from an accredited university and three (3) years of environmental-related experience or seven (7) years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Good working knowledge of Washington state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Accountable for completion of scheduled and emerging work assignments on time.
  • Working knowledge of standard Microsoft computer applications.
  • Prior practical work experience in field environments (e.g., construction execution and/or operating facilities) performing the responsibilities above.
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentum visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the nuclear industry for commercial and/or DOE projects.
  • Experience with state and federal dangerous waste and department of transportation requirements.
  • Experience supporting facility start-up and commissioning activities and environmental integration.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts reviews of project documents to ensure alignment with environmental permits, regulations and requirements.
  • Manages, analyzes, and trends environmental data for incorporation into project reports.
  • Maintains environmental tracking systems.
  • Maintains Direct Feed Low Activity Waste environmental requirements in the IBM Rational DOORs Database, coordinates with internal organizations to ensure implementation of requirements.
  • Conducts facility walkdowns and inspections to ensure environmental requirements are met.
  • Conducts and documents visual emission surveys in accordance with EPA Method 9.
  • Conducts written assessments and surveillances of project programs and conditions with consideration for environmental program implementation and requirement alignment.
  • Develops and revises environmental procedures, programs, guides, and other documents.
