About The Position

The Doe Run Company is seeking an Environmental Specialist to assist the Environmental Compliance Supervisor in maintaining compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. This role involves ensuring proper data collection, analysis, and reporting for operations sites. The position is located at the Buick Resource Recycling Division in Boss, MO. Doe Run is a natural resources company and a leading lead producer, dedicated to environmentally responsible mineral and metal production. They operate one of the world's largest single-site lead recycling facilities. The company emphasizes enhancing quality of life through its operations and provides a sustainability report for review.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering/Chemistry (or related degree) or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient knowledge of data collection systems, software, and hardware.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of current environmental best management practices and compliance techniques/technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA safety training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completing compliance monitoring, permitting, and reporting for operations sites.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert regarding protocols and compliance with relevant regulations and policies including CWA, RCRA, CAA, PDW, ISO, TAOC, and other internal and external requirements.
  • Providing support to and troubleshooting all environmental sampling and analysis for operations sites, including meteorological stations, air monitoring, and permitting NPDES monitoring.
  • Reading, interpreting, and remaining current on governmental regulations, especially any monitoring requirements.
  • Implementing and managing projects to enhance sampling and analysis.
  • Developing and implementing systems to manage programs or day-to-day activities of the workforce across all environmental functions.
  • Conducting waste stream characterization, annual/biennial reporting, exception reporting, waste reduction program, shipments, data entry, inspections, training implementation and program management, labeling, manifest tracking, and filing.
  • Completing tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS policies, procedures, and best practices; supporting and assisting peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; reporting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and providing feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • If supervising, maintaining EHS compliance by holding direct reports accountable for adherence to EHS policies, procedures, and best practices; evaluating employee EHS performance via field observations and document review; reporting and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and providing feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
