Environmental Specialist II
About The Position
This Environmental Specialist II position is located in the DWM Brownfields Redevelopment Section. The Environmental Specialist II (ES-II) will be an Associate Brownfields Project Manager. The ES-II assists in the management of brownfields projects through the evaluation of hydrogeologic and environmental assessment and risk data. As assigned, they will review technical documents including assessment work plans and reports, vapor intrusion assessment work plans and reports, conduct data gap analyses, and work as part of a team within the Brownfields Redevelopment Section to complete brownfields agreements in coordination with the developer’s team and internal Brownfields Redevelopment Section and DWM senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for reviewing project history and technical data to identify assessment data gaps and work with the prospective developer team to generate a data gap scope of work for review and approval.
- Responsible for working with senior management in the Program to ensure timely production and negotiation of brownfields agreement documentation.
- Responsible for good communication with the prospective developer team to facilitate success in completing brownfields projects in a timely manner.
- Responsible for routine communication with staff, the public, and the regulated community including but not limited to public speaking engagements, public outreach, and stakeholder correspondence.
