About The Position

This is a temporary position with the Department of Environmental Quality, located at 4100 Reedy Creek Road, Raleigh - Wake County. The position supports the North Carolina Geological Survey in organizing and maintaining its Core Repository. Work will take place both inside the Core Repository building and in the adjacent yard. The role includes periods of physically demanding activity and requires strong attention to detail. This posting is for 2 positions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with organizing the Core Repository
• Sorting, inventorying, and repackaging at-risk geologic cores collected from both offshore and onshore North Carolina
• Move cores and related collections onto new shelving located in on-site Conex units or other designated areas within the facility
• Follow guidance from Senior Staff on sorting methods, labeling procedures, prioritization, and repackaging standards
• Conduct quality assurance checks on completed work.
