About The Position

The Environmental Services Worker II is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining hospital facilities to provide a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role includes floor care, waste removal, linen handling, spill cleanup, and general cleaning in accordance with hospital policies and infection control standards. The worker follows established procedures to support patient safety, regulatory compliance, and hospital cleanliness standards. The position requires regular and reliable attendance and compliance with all policies and standards. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

1–3 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or hospital facility maintenance.
Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and floor care techniques.
Ability to safely handle biohazardous and infectious waste in compliance with infection control standards.
Familiarity with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and proper usage.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning schedules effectively.
Knowledge of hospital policies, regulatory standards, and safety procedures for environmental services.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Good communication skills for professional interaction with staff, patients, and visitors.

Nice To Haves

Certification in Environmental Services or Healthcare Cleaning, such as CHEST or CHESP certification.

Responsibilities

Perform floor care, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and shampooing various flooring surfaces.
Collect, remove, and properly dispose of biohazardous, infectious, and noninfectious waste according to hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
Handle and process soiled linens, replace them with clean bags, and ensure proper containment and storage.
Clean and sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas in compliance with infection control standards.
Respond to spills and contamination cleanups using proper disinfection methods and safety precautions.
Move furniture, floor mats, and other equipment as needed for cleaning, facility maintenance, or department relocations.
Monitor cleaning supply usage, control expenses, and ensure supplies are stored and used safely.
Communicate maintenance and repair needs to the supervisor or facilities department.
Maintain accurate cleaning logs and document completed environmental services tasks.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with policies and standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
