About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician, also referred to as an EVS Tech or Hospital Housekeeper, helps ensure a safe and healthy hospital environment by cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent infection. The role includes waste disposal, supply restocking, floor and surface maintenance, and responding to urgent cleaning needs.

This is a full-time evening-shift position at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama. The scheduled hours are 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. in an 8-hour shift.

Requirements

• Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively.

Nice To Haves

• One year of knowledge of acute-care hospital environmental services techniques, practices, and procedures.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent the spread of infections.
• Dispose of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols.
• Restock supplies such as gloves, masks, and cleaning materials in hospital areas.
• Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals.
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs, including spills or contamination incidents, and communicate promptly using phones, handheld radios, pagers, and other devices.
• Maintain cleanliness in the hospital and adjacent buildings, traveling between facilities independently when required.
