Job Summary: The successful individual will work under direct supervision to maintain the cleanliness within the healthcare facility in support of the organization’s health standards. The Environmental Services Technician will assume the responsibility of cleaning and maintaining a well-groomed appearance throughout the facility. The role will also include other activities such as management of linens and inventory distribution, stocking, and collection. The Environmental Services Technician is expected to demonstrate professionalism during contact with patients while performing job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Able to demonstrate, after training, skill, and capacity to use cleaning equipment
  • Possess skills and knowledge of proper use of chemicals and equipment in cleaning, stripping and refinishing floors and in shampooing carpeting, and upholstery
  • Knowledge of the 10 step cleaning process and isolation cleaning of a patient room, cycle clean OR and L&D suites, and terminal clean areas as needed
  • Capacity to stand, walk, stoop, and move reasonable weight while performing duties
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and is physically presentable

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in healthcare, housekeeping, and/or maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Undertake the 10 Step cleaning process
  • Dust, dry mop and clean items such as medicine cabinets, furniture, metals, mirrors and equipment
  • Vacuum blinds, screens and vents
  • Replenish supplies
  • Sterilize rooms after isolation
  • Clean and service rooms and offices
  • Clean and mop floors
  • Damp dust furniture and equipment
  • Wash inside windows
  • Empty waste baskets
  • Arrange rooms in an orderly fashion
  • Clean bathrooms, sinks, mirrors, and restock soap, towels and tissues
  • Clean patient check-out beds and change curtains as needed
  • Clean and service buildings
  • Dust mop, wet mop, buff floors, halls, rooms, and stairways, and clean carpets
  • Periodically wax floors
  • Gather and dispose of trash
  • Clean high areas; move furniture and equipment in the hospital as required
  • Utilize the bed tracking system to perform “Discharge cleaning” as needed
  • Transport waste from collection points to compactors
  • Set up meeting rooms and move furniture as required
  • Maintain and operate all cleaning equipment both electrical and battery
  • Request repairs for cleaning equipment as needed
  • Wash walls and ceilings as assigned
  • Perform special projects such as hanging drapes and cubicle curtains
  • Report any deficiencies observed in equipment, furniture or fixtures
  • Perform related duties as assigned
