About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician performs environmental services cleaning tasks in a healthcare setting with a strong emphasis on infection prevention, safety, and customer service. Completes cleaning routines in patient care areas, restrooms, public areas, and ancillary spaces. Handles soiled linen and medical waste and maintains confidentiality in sensitive environments. Adheres to all infection control protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine cleaning tasks in patient rooms, procedure areas, restrooms, public areas, clinics, and offices according to established protocols.
  • Interacts professionally with patients, visitors, staff, and the public, using approved scripting and maintaining a service-oriented approach.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Follows all infection control guidelines, including the use of PPE and isolation room procedures.
  • Handles soiled linen, regular waste, and medical waste in accordance with department safety standards.
  • Delivers and stocks clean linen, monitors par levels, and enters data using handheld or desktop computers.
  • Operates equipment such as vacuums and carts safely and reports any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
  • Follows safety protocols when working with wet floors, ladders, and cleaning equipment to prevent accidents.
  • Maintains equipment in clean, safe working condition and ensures the work area is compliant with inspection standards.
  • May assist Floor Care Technicians or support team development tasks as assigned.
  • May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
