About The Position

Responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the PACE center. This position performs routine and specialized cleaning and disinfection of participant care areas, common spaces, offices, restrooms, and other assigned areas in accordance with organizational policies, infection prevention practices, and applicable health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Pleasant outgoing personality.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, use of chemicals and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to drive and operate janitorial/maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with participants, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities with appropriate attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for older adults.
  • Medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up to date before engaging in direct participant contact.
  • Criminal history records check at hire.
  • Drug screen at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of participant care areas, including the day center, clinic, therapy areas, dining areas, activity spaces, and other participant-accessible locations.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, conference rooms, common spaces, hallways, entrances, and other assigned areas.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, light switches, tables, chairs, countertops, phones, and shared equipment surfaces.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and otherwise maintain floors and floor surfaces according to established schedules and cleaning procedures.
  • Empty trash and other waste receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with organizational policies and applicable safety requirements.
  • Clean spills and address other environmental cleanliness concerns promptly to reduce the risk of falls, exposure, or other safety hazards.
  • Follow established cleaning and disinfection procedures, including appropriate product use, contact times, dilution requirements, and safety precautions.
  • Perform enhanced cleaning and disinfection, when necessary, due to communicable illness, infection prevention concerns, or other identified environmental risks.
  • Follow appropriate precautions when cleaning areas contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
  • Maintain appropriate supplies in restrooms, shower rooms, exam rooms and other frequently-used spaces.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow applicable infection prevention and safety requirements.
  • Complete assigned cleaning schedules, checklists, logs, or other documentation as required.
  • Interact respectfully and professionally with PACE participants, caregivers, visitors, employees, and vendors.
  • Performs other tasks as appropriate and assigned by supervisor.
