The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment. Responsibilities may include cleaning various locations such as patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards. The technician must wear proper protective equipment, keep storage and equipment tidy, and may use pagers and other technology. Assisting in laundry areas and potentially using technology applications are also part of the role. Physical activities involve extensive use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials, with the ability to lift/move 40-50 lbs and push/pull variable weights. The position requires being on feet for the majority of the shift and may involve exposure to noise from equipment. Work hours may vary based on patient/resident needs and can include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
