About The Position

This position performs patient room and ancillary area daily cleaning according to departmental and corporate standards. This includes all isolation/terminal cleaning of rooms (including negative pressure/airborne) and cleaning of any equipment used in patient rooms. The goal is to ensure customer service quality standards are achieved and maintained by the Environmental Services Department. The role involves daily cleaning in assigned areas, disposal of soiled linens and garbage, and maintaining housekeeping carts and equipment. It also requires the safe and cost-effective use and mixing of cleaning chemicals, ensuring all bottled chemicals are labeled. The technician will maintain adequate supplies of paper products, hand soap, seat covers, sanitary napkins, and sharps containers, and remove/replace full sharps containers. There may be authorization to access secured medication storage locations. The role emphasizes providing a positive, customer service-minded environment through teamwork, enthusiasm, pride in work, and a positive work attitude. Daily communication with the manager is expected to exchange information, resolve concerns, and maintain customer service standards. The technician will observe and report any equipment, furniture, fixtures, carpet, curtains, and walls in need of repair. Adherence to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures is required.

Requirements

  • Prefer high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the correct use of body mechanics.
  • The ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
  • The communications skills necessary to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • The organizational skills necessary to coordinate, prioritize and accomplish multiple work assignments.
  • The ability to work on call and overtime when necessary, including all holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient room and ancillary area daily cleaning per departmental and corporate standards.
  • Performs all isolation/terminal cleaning of rooms (including negative pressure/airborne).
  • Cleans any equipment used in patient room.
  • Disposes of soiled linens and garbage.
  • Ensures housekeeping cart and equipment is clean and orderly on a daily basis.
  • Utilizes/mixes cleaning chemicals in a cost effective and safe manner, following all instructions and safety specifications.
  • Ensures all bottled chemicals are labeled on a daily basis.
  • Maintains adequate supplies of paper products, hand soap, seat covers, sanitary napkins, sharps containers etc. in assigned areas on a daily basis.
  • Removes and replaces all full sharps.
  • May be authorized to access secured medication storage locations to perform job related functions.
  • Provides a positive customer service minded environment by stressing, through example, teamwork, personal enthusiasm, pride in work, and a positive efficient work attitude.
  • Communicates daily with manager assigned to area to ensure information is exchanged, any concerns are resolved and customer service standards are achieved and maintained.
