About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician I performs janitorial services, floor care, laundry, hazardous-material handling, stockroom activities, meeting-room set-ups, furniture moving, transportation of items, and support for other departments. The role helps maintain clean and safe Goodwill facilities and includes janitorial tasks beyond those generally performed by on-site staff, including cleaning in high and low areas. The position pays $18.00 per hour plus a $2.00 pay differential.

Requirements

Must meet the background-check requirements of the department.
Must be comfortable with heights due to using ladders or a scissor lift.
Valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's insurance company is preferred; driving duties also require meeting DMV and insurance requirements.
No specific work experience is required; position competency is learned through on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial activities to provide a clean and safe environment at designated facilities.
Follow and maintain hazardous-material storage processes and procedures.
Follow and maintain laundry processes and procedures.
Set up meeting rooms at various facilities.
Support stockroom activities.
Complete required paperwork, checklists, and forms accurately and promptly.
Move furniture and assist with transporting materials between locations.
Operate company-issued tools and equipment properly and safely.
If holding a valid California driver's license and meeting DMV and insurance requirements, drive and travel throughout San Diego County as needed, following a map.
Perform floor care on VCT tile, vinyl tile, sealed concrete, and carpeted floors in Goodwill facilities.
Perform additional janitorial duties, including cleaning high areas such as air-conditioning grills and low areas such as along baseboards.
Clean, maintain, and conduct weekly inventory of night-crew tools and equipment.
Maintain the night-crew storage area.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
