About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician I maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout the hospital in accordance with Community Memorial Healthcare's quality standards and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, surgical and procedural areas, bathrooms, laboratories, offices, hallways, and other hospital areas; maintaining environmental services supplies and ordering necessary equipment as appropriate; and following proper procedures for the handling and disposal of biohazardous waste. An essential job responsibility of the Environmental Services Technician is cleaning patient rooms throughout the hospital, including rooms occupied by patients with COVID-19 or other communicable diseases, and the potential for exposure during the performance of assigned duties. Community Memorial Healthcare takes employee health and safety seriously. The EVS Department will provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks, gloves, and other required equipment, as well as education and training on proper use, to help protect employees, patients, and the community.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) related to the safe use and handling of chemicals
  • Ability to interact with patients, customers, co-workers, and all levels of hospital staff in a courteous, service-oriented manner
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial services, or a related field
