About The Position

Responsible for thorough cleaning of assigned areas including, but not limited to, furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, etc. Perform high and low dusting of TV's, lights, walls, mop floors, elevators and stairs, clean door frames, ceiling vents, and vacuum carpet, etc. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures. Observes all isolation procedures and Infect Prevention Standards. Is knowledgeable on correct chemicals used for different pathogens. Maintains EVS closet, EVS cart, and all equipment in a neat and orderly manner. Reports any safety hazards or equipment in need of repair to supervisor and/or Facilities. Maintain correct amount of supplies. Is knowledgeable on correct chemicals used for different pathogens. Replenishes paper, soap supplies, hand sanitizer. Hangs cubicles/drapes according to department policy. Special project assignments, including coordinating specifics such as; contacting affected departments to advise of upcoming project (i.e. construction projects, wall cleaning, drapes, changing cubicles, window washing, etc.), and post informational signs. Moves furniture, supplies and equipment as requested adhering to departmental safety and lifting procedures. Seeks assistance when in doubt. Responsible for properly mixing and storing chemicals to achieve correct dilution ratio. Uses proper personal protective equipment including safety goggles when needed. Reads directions carefully and asks supervisor when in doubt. Uses wet floor signs, etc. to block off work area. Makes beds in accordance with specific area needs. Is knowledgeable and can identify various bed types. Utilizes bed tracking phone/pager, places bed in EPIC and removes when bed has been completed. Responds to phone/pager call from supervisor within 5 minutes. Reports phone/pager problems to supervisor. Logs out of EPIC. Ensures dismissal rooms are ready for the next patient. Uses Xenex UV Light robot for specified rooms where available. Returns soiled and clean unused mops to department and places in proper containers/areas. Adheres to all applicable regulations and standards. Adheres to proper handling, transport and disposal of all waste types, including but not limited to: hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, regular trash, universal. Complete DOT Certification in order to package and transport regulated medical waste. Asks supervisor or lead when in doubt.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous cleaning experience helpful.
  • Knowledgeable on correct chemicals used for different pathogens.
  • Knowledgeable and can identify various bed types.
  • Ability to effectively perform scheduled floor cleaning which includes stripping, scrubbing, finishing, shampooing, and extracting in a timely manner.
  • Ability to perform spot cleaning of carpets and carpet bonneting, extraction of carpet, burnishing, and wet/dry vacuum.
  • Ability to operate, understand, and maintain all equipment (i.e. extractors, vacuums, wet vac, burnisher, flatbed, etc.) in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ability to read directions carefully and ask supervisor when in doubt.
  • Ability to seek assistance when in doubt.
  • Ability to adhere to all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Ability to adhere to proper handling, transport and disposal of all waste types.
  • Ability to complete DOT Certification in order to package and transport regulated medical waste.
  • Ability to respond to phone/pager call from supervisor within 5 minutes.

  • Performing spot cleaning of carpets, carpet bonneting, extraction of carpet, burnishing, and wet/dry vacuuming.
  • Operating, understanding, and maintaining all equipment (i.e., extractors, vacuums, wet vac, burnisher, flatbed, etc.) in a safe and professional manner.
  • Cleaning equipment after use and ensuring batteries are charged.
