About The Position

The Environmental Services Tech is responsible for the thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including furniture, fixtures, floors, and restrooms, adhering to organizational policies and infection prevention standards. This role involves maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies, proper chemical handling, and waste disposal. The position also includes making beds, using tracking systems, and operating specialized equipment like the Xenex UV Light robot. Special projects such as coordinating departmental notifications for cleaning or maintenance tasks are also part of the responsibilities. The role requires adherence to safety and lifting procedures when moving furniture and equipment.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Previous cleaning experience helpful.
Knowledgeable on correct chemicals used for different pathogens.
Knowledgeable and can identify various bed types.
Ability to effectively perform scheduled floor cleaning which includes stripping, scrubbing, finishing, shampooing, and extracting in a timely manner (includes working other shifts for annual floor maintenance) following all unit specific guidelines giving attention to detailed areas such as baseboards, corners, carpet stains, etc.
Ability to perform spot cleaning of carpets and carpet bonneting, extraction of carpet, burnishing, and wet/dry vacuum.
Ability to operate, understand, and maintain all equipment (i.e. extractors, vacuums, wet vac, burnisher, flatbed, etc.) in a safe and professional manner.
Ability to adhere to all applicable regulations and standards.
Ability to adhere to proper handling, transport and disposal of all waste types, including but not limited to: hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, regular trash, universal.
Ability to complete DOT Certification in order to package and transport regulated medical waste.
Ability to ask supervisor or lead when in doubt.
Ability to seek assistance when in doubt.
Ability to read directions carefully and ask supervisor when in doubt.
Ability to respond to phone/pager call from supervisor within 5 minutes.
Ability to report phone/pager problems to supervisor.
Ability to log out of EPIC.
Ability to ensure dismissal rooms are ready for the next patient.
Ability to use Xenex UV Light robot for specified rooms where available.
Ability to return soiled and clean unused mops to department and place in proper containers/areas.
Ability to make beds in accordance with specific area needs.
Ability to utilize bed tracking phone/pager, place bed in EPIC and remove when bed has been completed.
Ability to hang cubicles/drapes according to department policy.
Ability to perform special project assignments, including coordinating specifics such as contacting affected departments to advise of upcoming project (i.e. construction projects, wall cleaning, drapes, changing cubicles, window washing, etc.), and post informational signs.
Ability to move furniture, supplies and equipment as requested adhering to departmental safety and lifting procedures.
Ability to properly mix and store chemicals to achieve correct dilution ratio.
Ability to use proper personal protective equipment including safety goggles when needed.
Ability to use wet floor signs, etc. to block off work area.
Ability to observe all isolation procedures and Infect Prevention Standards.
Ability to maintain EVS closet, EVS cart, and all equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
Ability to report any safety hazards or equipment in need of repair to supervisor and/or Facilities.
Ability to maintain correct amount of supplies.
Ability to replenish paper, soap supplies, and hand sanitizer.

Perform high and low dusting of TV's, lights, walls, mop floors, elevators and stairs, clean door frames, ceiling vents, and vacuum carpet, etc.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
Observe all isolation procedures and Infect Prevention Standards.
Maintain EVS closet, EVS cart, and all equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
Report any safety hazards or equipment in need of repair to supervisor and/or Facilities.
Maintain correct amount of supplies.
Replenish paper, soap supplies, and hand sanitizer.
Hang cubicles/drapes according to department policy.
