About The Position
The Environmental Services (EVS) Specialist aids in maintaining a high-quality standard of housekeeping. This includes performing cleaning functions in assigned areas while following assigned schedules and specific methods to provide patients, visitors, and staff with a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment. EVS Specialists aid in the prevention of cross contamination, controlling bacteria, odor, and sustaining acceptable aseptic conditions. They may assist with moves, recycling, delivery of supplies, and the removal of trash and biohazard waste. The EVS Specialist may use industrial cleaning equipment.
Requirements
- Aids in maintaining a high-quality standard of housekeeping.
- Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas while following assigned schedules and specific methods.
- Provides patients, visitors, and staff with a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment.
- Aids in the prevention of cross contamination, controlling bacteria, odor, and sustaining acceptable aseptic conditions.
- May assist with moves, recycling, delivery of supplies, and the removal of trash and biohazard waste.
- May use industrial cleaning equipment.
Responsibilities
- Proper disposal of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA codes and regulations.
- Handle the disposal of environmental Contaminants such as: batteries, thermometers (mercury), and needles.
- Keep biohazard food and loading area safe and clean of debris.
- Maintains equipment, clean carts, buckets, floor machines, other equipment, and supply closets to give the hospital a professional appearance.
- Completes and maintains all carpet and hard surface flooring in accordance with departmental procedures.
