About The Position

Established in 1975 by an act of the Virginia General Assembly, the Capital Region Airport Commission owns and operates Richmond International Airport (RIC). The Commission directs the growth, operation and business activities of RIC and works tirelessly to ensure it continues to be an affordable option for local, regional, and out-of-state travelers. This position is responsible for the effective direction, management, and operation of all functions of the Environmental Services department to maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment.

Requirements

  • At least ten (10) years of experience in environmental services, custodial/housekeeping or in a related field.
  • At least seven (7) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local laws, regulations, codes pertaining to biohazardous and infectious, solid waste management and recycling.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
  • Ability to deliver strong operational performance.
  • Ability to quickly analyze situations to determine the best course of action.
  • Excellent communication skills for dealing with diverse staff, clients and customers.
  • Multi-task oriented, with strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform assigned work with a positive attitude, while exhibiting a professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Effective direction, management, and operation of all functions of the Environmental Services department to maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment.
  • Development and motivation of supervisory staff, ensuring the staff is properly trained at all levels and performance standards are met.
  • Monitoring operations and completing EVS quality assessments and necessary action plans to provide optimal environmental services.
  • Monitoring and maintaining operating budgets such as payroll, supplies, uniforms, contracts, and equipment.
  • Managing multi-shift or continuous operations.
