About The Position

This role provides training, guidance, and subject matter expertise to Environmental Services staff. The position supports the coordination of daily workflow, offers feedback to leadership regarding operational trends and team effectiveness, and assists with accurate documentation processes. Responsibilities include carrying out the hospital waste program, maintaining records for regulatory agencies, and adhering to hospital and department policies. The role also involves providing instruction on proper cleaning techniques and monitoring supply levels. Additionally, the position supports workflow coordination for laundry services, works with linen vendors, provides training to laundry staff, monitors linen inventory, and ensures linen requirements are met for other departments. The role is also responsible for daily stocking of linen closets and annual linen inventory.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides training, guidance, and subject matter expertise to Environmental Services staff.
  • Supports coordination of daily workflow and provides feedback to leadership regarding operational trends and team effectiveness.
  • Supports accurate documentation processes related to attendance and departmental records.
  • Carries out hospital waste program which includes general waste and hazardous waste.
  • Assists in maintaining proper records as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Adheres to hospital and department policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, infection control and quality assurance program.
  • Assists in maintaining all required records, reports, statistics etc.
  • Attend meetings as required. May facilitate team huddles or meetings to share updates and reinforce best practices.
  • Provides instruction and guidance to staff to reinforce proper techniques and best practices in a variety of duties that include dusting, washing, and disinfecting furniture, fixtures, and equipment; sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing floors; gathering and disposing of refuse; arranging furniture; and performing similar tasks.
  • Monitors supply and chemical levels and communicates inventory needs to leadership to ensure ample chemicals and supplies are always kept on hand.
  • Supports coordination of workflow related to clean and soiled hospital laundry.
  • Works with linen vendors to ensure linen appropriate par levels and delivery and pick up schedules.
  • Provides training and guidance to staff performing laundry duties.
  • Monitors linen inventory and communicates needs or concerns to leadership.
  • Supports adherence to linen distribution processes and identifies improvement opportunities.
  • Works with other departments to ensure linen requirements are met at the highest satisfaction.
  • Responsible for daily stocking of linen closets on Med/Surg and linen closets on main level.
  • Annual linen inventory with vendor.
