About The Position

As an Environmental Services Lead Technician at CHI St Vincent, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of patient rooms and all hospital areas to protect against potential illness or injury from infectious diseases or other hazards. This role requires a thorough and safety-conscious individual with natural leadership abilities to motivate teammates to perform their duties with integrity and excellence. You will perform routine cleaning tasks, utilize specialized equipment and techniques for sanitization, and adhere to proper disposal methods for biohazard materials. Additionally, you will learn and safely use disinfecting chemicals and cleaning procedures for specialized areas and equipment. Responsibilities also include restocking supplies like soap, paper towels, and linens, and delivering clean linens to patient rooms. A friendly and enthusiastic demeanor is essential, as you will be a key component in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients, visitors, and staff.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine cleaning and decluttering to appropriate areas of the hospital - dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash.
  • Sanitize appropriate areas of the hospital using approved tools and routines which may vary by location (e.g., patient rooms, emergency rooms, operating rooms, hallways, nurses’ stations, waiting areas, and restrooms).
  • Use proper chemicals, procedures, and equipment to clean and disinfect surfaces thoroughly.
  • Restock supplies as needed in supply areas, common areas, and patient rooms (e.g., soap, paper towels, bath tissue, facial tissue, bath linens, bed linens, cleaning supplies).
  • Learn and follow proper techniques for disposal of all medical waste, including biological or biohazard waste such as bodily fluids or sharp implements.
  • Remain patient, kind and personable in all interactions with patients, visitors and staff.
  • Lead other EVS teammates and support their work to ensure that all areas are clean, sanitized, and in the best possible condition for our patients and visitors.
