Environmental Services / Housekeeping - Full Time
About The Position

This Environmental Services Technician position is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment. Cleaning responsibilities may extend to patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas. The technician must wear proper protective equipment, keep supplies stocked, and may use pagers and other technology. Assisting in laundry areas and potentially using technology applications are also part of the role. Physical activities involve considerable use of arms and legs, moving the whole body, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull variable weights. The position requires being on feet for the majority of the shift and may involve exposure to noise from equipment. Work hours will vary based on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to use computer.
- Prior cleaning experience is helpful.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs.
- Ability to push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps.
- Ability to be on feet for the majority of their shift.
- Ability to work overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
