Environmental Services / Housekeeping - FT Evening
About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment. Responsibilities may include cleaning patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards. The technician must wear proper protective equipment, keep supplies stocked and tidy, and may use pagers and other technology. Assistance in laundry areas may also be required. The position involves significant physical activity, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull variable weight limits. The individual will be on their feet for the majority of the shift and may be exposed to noise from equipment. Work hours may vary depending on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to use computer.
- Prior cleaning experience is helpful.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps.
- Ability to be on feet for the majority of the shift.

Responsibilities

- Keeping storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Using pagers and other technology appropriately.
- Assisting in laundry areas as appropriate.
- Using technology applications depending on location and availability of programs.
