About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines. The position requires demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment. Cleaning may occur in patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas. The role involves wearing proper protective equipment, keeping supplies stocked and tidy, and potentially assisting in laundry areas. Access to and appropriate use of pagers and other technology may be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to use computer
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior cleaning experience is helpful
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful
  • Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in laundry areas as appropriate
  • Using technology applications depending on location and availability of programs
