About The Position

Valley View is seeking a full-time Floor Care Tech to assist our Environmental Services Department. The ideal candidate has previous floor care experience (carpet and tile) and is able to operate all floor care related equipment (auto scrubber, buffers, carpet cleaners, etc.). The position requires a great work ethic and a positive attitude. This is a full-time, evening position with rotating weekends. The work schedule may vary, so flexibility with work assignments and schedule is a must. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred. Experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must read, write and communicate verbally in the English language.
  • Must be able to push and pull heavy equipment (over 50 lbs.) repeatedly or for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to call maintenance when necessary.
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to communicate effectively with the facilitators or House Supervisors
  • Must be able to work evening shift and rotating weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous floor care experience (carpet and tile).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  • Previous experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains tiled, carpeted and waxed floors in all areas of the hospital.
  • Services hospital areas to ensure the safety, health and morale of patients, visitors and staff and to facilitate patients' recovery by helping provide a clean, attractive, safe environment with minimal interference to others.
  • Operates and maintains floor care equipment safely and effectively.
  • Takes safety precautions when cleaning floors. (i.e. uses “caution/wet floor” signs, Personal protective equipment)
  • Transports regular bagged trash, biohazardous waste and soiled linen per procedure.
  • Cleans and washes furniture, equipment and fixtures.
  • Maintains tile floors and carpeting.
  • Removes and disposes of wastes; trash containers are appropriately lined and maintained.
  • Stores, handles and disposes of chemicals per policy.
  • Stores, handles and disposes of biohazardous wastes per policy.
  • Arranges furniture and equipment in the assigned area to be safe, pleasing to the eye and helpful to those who use the area.
  • Replaces disposables as needed.
  • Works with supervisor to document all necessary activity and ensure a smooth-running department.
  • Performs other cleaning duties as assigned.
