About The Position

The Environmental Services Attendant maintains cleanliness throughout the hospital on the assigned shift and completes tasks necessary to ensure a clean, safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, and self. The role works across all areas of the hospital and collaborates with hospital district leadership, departments, team members, and internal and external customers. The position reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager and supervises no staff.

The work involves routine exposure to blood, blood products, other body fluids and excretions, and patients in varying infectious states. It also involves moderate to heavy stress and rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with NIHD staff and the public.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with NIHD staff at all levels and the public.
• Ability to demonstrate maturity, integrity, and good judgment.
• Ability to fulfill the physical requirements documented on the attached form.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible, positive, and able to work independently.
• Ability to understand, read, and write English clearly.

Nice To Haves

• Previous environmental services experience with a good working knowledge of hospital infection control and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide a clean, safe environment for patients, staff, self, and visitors.
• Respond promptly to requests for assistance with special cleaning needs.
• Use work time appropriately and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Work independently and consistently meet performance standards without close supervision.
• Clean the hospital and clinical environment to standard.
• Remove trash and biohazard waste and place it in proper locations.
• Work with team members and leaders to accomplish tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
