About The Position

This position is for an Environmental Services Associate at Bridgeport Hospital, part of the YNHHS organization. The role involves performing daily cleaning of various areas within the hospital, including patient rooms, nursing stations, restrooms, offices, and common areas. Requirements

  • Ability to understand and speak English at a level that allows for safe efficient performance of assigned duties.
  • Must pass all pre-employment screenings as required by the client.
  • Must demonstrate ability to use supplies, tools and equipment properly without waste or neglect after initial training.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Successful completion of department orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic areas, corridors, stairwells, elevators, and any other assigned area.
  • High and low dusting of horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Empties trash receptacles, removes trash, and relines containers.
  • Damp wipes/disinfects furniture and surfaces.
  • Cleans and polishes bathroom and bathroom fixtures.
  • Dry mops or vacuums floors.
  • Wet mops/disinfects floors.
  • Burnishes/Refinishes floors.
  • Cleans wall surfaces and windows.
  • Polishes metallic surfaces.
  • Replenishes room supplies.
  • Performs check out or room discharge cleaning.
  • Shampoos carpets.
  • Collects bulk trash from soiled holding areas.
  • Inspects one's own work for quality.
  • Performs all EVS related tasks with the appropriate sense of urgency and customer service orientation.
  • Completes cleaning assignments within acceptable time parameters.
  • Measures and dilutes cleaning chemicals appropriately and uses chemicals for their intended use.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and work stations for cleanliness and reports repair needs.
  • Assists in the cleaning of emergency spills when observed or upon request.
  • Observes and reports the general need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
  • Assures the safety of patients, staff and visitors through enforcement of department safety policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to safety requirements when performing jobs using specific tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrates proper use of protective devices and clothing.
  • Immediately reports all accidents and incidents to supervisor.
  • Notifies supervisor of a work-related injury before seeking medical treatment.
  • Keeps floor free from spills, trash or articles.
  • Demonstrates safe lifting practices.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow fire (emergency) evacuation plan.
  • Adheres to lock out/tag out procedures.
  • Performs any additional assignments as required by supervisor.
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and in-services as directed by supervisor/manager.
