About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking an Environmental Services Associate to provide cleaning and sanitizing services to support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. This role involves cleaning patient rooms, offices, clinics, clinical and procedural areas, and public spaces, while supporting patient safety through consistent and high-quality service. The associate will demonstrate the ability to clean and disinfect high-acuity clinical and procedural areas, apply disinfection protocols, and utilize approved cleaning tools in accordance with infection control standards and hospital policy. Additionally, the role includes conducting hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols, and proactively communicating and collaborating with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow.

Requirements

• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
• Requires the ability to operate light floor equipment for cleaning floors in patient care areas.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Requires the ability to clean areas that require technical cleaning including IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
• No previous experience required.
