About The Position
Performs housekeeping duties. Duties include cleaning patient rooms, offices, operating rooms and lobbies; changing bed linens; sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and buffing floors; and, removing trash and hazardous materials.
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from high school
- Six (6) months of experience in janitorial or custodial work
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning supplies
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques
- Knowledge of department and hospital safety practices and procedures
- Knowledge of patient rights
- Knowledge of infection control policies and practices
- Knowledge of handling, storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials
- Knowledge of department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures
- Skill in mixing cleaning chemicals
- Skill in safe use of hand equipment
- Skill in working without close supervision in standard working situations
- Skill in making beds and changing bed linen
- Skill in proper lifting techniques
- Skill in using equipment such as vacuum cleaners, mops, buffers and dollies
- Skill in communicating effectively with people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties
- Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment
- Ability to operate hand equipment
- Stamina to remain standing and walk for extended periods of time
- Strength to lift and maneuver objects
- Hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone
- Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects
- Incumbents are exposed to diseases and hazardous materials and are required to contain infectious diseases and other contaminations such as lice
Nice To Haves
- 1 year recent documented EVS experience in a Hospital/Acute Care Setting
- 1 year recent documented EVS experience in Hotel Industry
- Experience with Isolation Protocols
- Experience with biohazard waste, handling & cleaning of infectious materials, when necessary
- Availability to work ALL shifts, including graveyard, seven (7) days a week, as needed
- Position may require a written and / or oral exam for core competencies
