About The Position

Under regular supervision, performs cleaning and other environmental services for all internal areas of system facilities including Patient Rooms, Nursing Units, Offices, Clinical Areas, Waiting Area, Lobbies, Lounges, Restrooms, Corridors, Elevators and Stairwells to ensure a clean, neat and sanitary environment, according to established performance standards. This role involves replenishing supplies, emptying trash, transporting waste, observing safety precautions, reporting hazards and needed repairs, cleaning and sanitizing various areas and fixtures, making beds, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors, shampooing carpets and upholstery, and operating mechanical cleaning equipment. The position also requires attending mandatory Compliance Program training, including HIPAA Privacy training, and performing related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED or one (1) year facility housekeeping experience.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to follow communication standards to resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to write legible and detailed information.
  • Ability to sign (name) on reports and/or other departmental documentation.
  • Competence in both oral and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Replenishes or replaces expendable supplies, such as soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels.
  • Empties trash containers, replaces liners, and cleans the exterior of trash containers.
  • Transports trash and hazardous waste to the appropriate disposal area.
  • Observes safety precautions and established safety procedures, and reports safety hazards.
  • Notes required repairs (painting, plumbing, carpentry, or electrical) and reports them.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, including fixtures, walls, floors, and surfaces.
  • Cleans light fixtures, walls, cabinets, furniture, blinds, telephones, refrigerators, doors, lamps, countertops, partitions, water fountains, and desk floor pads.
  • Removes fingerprint smudges, dusts surfaces (high/low), and removes dirt from wall surfaces with germicidal solutions.
  • Damp wipes horizontal surfaces including bedside stands, window sills, over bed tables, dressers, chairs, ottomans, desks, telephones, bookcases, tables, credenzas, file cabinets, and ledges.
  • Cleans and makes all beds, including stretchers.
  • Sweeps and vacuums floor and carpet surfaces.
  • Damp or wet mops floor surfaces with germicidal solutions.
  • Shampoos carpets and upholstery.
  • Vacuums elevator tracks (inside and outside).
  • Disposes of trash (inside and outside).
  • Operates mechanical equipment such as buffers, automatic scrubbers, pressure washers, vacuum cleaners, shampooers, extractors, burnishers, steam machines, baseboard machines, and restroom cleaning machines.
  • Uses equipment properly and maintains assigned equipment in good working order.
  • Attends annual and periodic mandatory Compliance Program training, including HIPAA Privacy training.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
