The Environmental Services Aide - Evenings is responsible for receiving cleaning assignments, supplies, and equipment at the beginning of the shift and performing a final check and cleanup at the end of the shift. This role involves maintaining tools and equipment in good condition, reporting any needed repairs or hazards, and economically using supplies. The aide will proceed to assigned areas to perform daily tasks, observing all safety policies and procedures. Responsibilities include cleaning various rooms and areas according to standard procedures, using proper chemicals and equipment, and ensuring areas are completely cleaned by the end of the shift. Specific duties may include cleaning stretchers, stools, utility tables, I.V. poles, overhead lights, laboratories, lounges, and locker rooms, as well as replacing light bulbs. The role also involves tasks related to Labor & Delivery and Operating Room procedures, such as managing suction bottles, resetting Oxygen, maintaining cleanliness of specific rooms, transporting patients after delivery, and stocking dispensers and warmers. Additionally, the aide will perform hard surface floor care/carpet duties, including spray and buffing, stripping, and refinishing techniques, and utilize proper spotting techniques and chemicals. Waste management is a key responsibility, including the daily collection, storage, and disposal of various wastes (municipal, chemotherapy, medical), adhering to proper handling, storage, and barrier precautions. The aide must respond to emergencies, fire or disaster calls, and demonstrate an understanding of emergency procedures. Other duties include assisting wherever required, cleaning other areas as requested, completing weekly reports, evaluating completed projects, and conducting visual inspections. The role also requires maintaining all equipment in proper condition, inspecting it daily for safety, and testing equipment to ensure high cleaning quality. Developing technical and operational knowledge, maintaining knowledge of products and chemicals, and training new employees are also part of the responsibilities.
