About The Position

The Environmental Service Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and orderly facility environment. This role involves performing cleaning duties across various areas of the facility, including surgery, out-patient areas, inpatient areas, public areas, and offices. The position also includes occasional light maintenance duties, floor care, waste and linen management, and responding to emergency situations. A daily QI log must be kept.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of surgery, out-patient areas, inpatient areas, all public areas, and offices by cleaning vertical and horizontal surfaces.
  • Occasional light maintenance duties.
  • Cleaning of draperies, cubicles and blinds.
  • Maintain floors by either dust mopping; wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, running auto scrubber, vacuuming, and shampooing carpets.
  • Maintain and organize all floor care equipment, cleaning carts, trash carts and all other equipment.
  • Removal and transport of regular waste, infectious waste and disposal in the proper method.
  • Removal and transport of soil linen and put in proper receptacle.
  • Document the procedure involved in the disposal of hospital waste products, and ensure that the right procedure in line with the standard practice of the hospital, is followed.
  • Response to code red, code green, code pink, and other emergency situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
