About The Position

AMI is seeking dependable and detail-oriented Environmental Service Technicians to support custodial and sanitation operations to support the VA Portland Health Care System in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA. This role is essential in helping maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment while supporting infection prevention and patient care standards. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least one year of housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or environmental services experience preferred
  • Healthcare or hospital cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and disinfectants
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office proficiency preferred
  • Ability to successfully complete the AMI credentialing process
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to work safely while following all workplace safety guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine custodial and sanitation services throughout healthcare facilities
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, exam rooms, offices, hallways, elevators, and common areas
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors for cleanliness and safety
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and restock sanitation supplies
  • Perform terminal cleaning of vacant clinic exam rooms
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and shared spaces
  • Safely operate custodial equipment and approved cleaning chemicals
  • Follow all infection control, safety, HIPAA, and security procedures
  • Report maintenance concerns, hazards, or supply shortages as needed
  • Participate in required onboarding, training, and compliance programs
  • Utilize appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Deliver targeted, culturally appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand health promotion and disease prevention information, policies, regulations, and local code.
