About The Position

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is a 198-bed non-profit facility providing compassionate healthcare to the communities in and around Gilbert, Arizona. A new Women's and Children's Pavilion is coming soon. The facility is committed to social justice, health equity, and innovative patient care, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where employees can make a tangible difference. As an Environmental Service Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. This role involves interaction with patients, visitors, and staff, and ensuring timely room turnovers with a focus on infection prevention. The technician is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and patient experience.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing environment in a healthcare setting.
  • Completing daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
  • Demonstrating a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
  • Displaying safe chemical use and equipment handling.
  • Maintaining cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment as outlined in the Standard Work cart setup.
  • Removing waste and transporting it to the appropriate disposal area, identifying proper waste stream handling (regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Following all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
