About The Position

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, a 198-bed non-profit facility, is seeking an Environmental Service Specialty Technician to provide basic and specialized cleaning services throughout the hospital. The role focuses on maintaining and cleaning hard and soft flooring surfaces, including stairwells, hallways, and public spaces, using heavy mechanical equipment. The technician will also work in Specialty Units to ensure a safe care environment for patients, staff, and visitors by applying cleaning, disinfecting, and quality assurance principles to reduce pathogens. This position requires proficiency in floor care equipment, specialized cleaning and disinfection protocols, adherence to safety standards, thoroughness, proactivity, effective communication, and strong personal accountability.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment within the hospital, with a primary focus on floor care and specialized cleaning in various hospital units.
  • Complete all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting, stripping and waxing floor surfaces.
  • Perform project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs, such as conference room set up/dismantle, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
  • Clean and disinfect specialty units & equipment, including but not limited to Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health and Burn Unit.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the specialty environment tasked with servicing.
