About The Position

ChristianaCare is looking for an Environmental Services Assistant III – Tram Operator to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, caregivers, and visitors. This is a full-time position with an evening shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), working every other weekend and holiday. The primary function is to ensure all assigned areas of the hospital are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition while safely operating a tram and powered equipment to support environmental services operations.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain standing/walking for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
Ability to maintain confidentiality and deliver excellent customer service
Comfortable operating powered equipment and working in a healthcare environment

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent work experience preferred
Minimum of 2 years of housekeeping or environmental services experience preferred

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain patient care areas, offices, and ancillary spaces in accordance with infection control standards
Operate battery-powered tram to transport trash, linen, and materials throughout the facility
Use automated equipment such as rider scrubbers, sweepers, and forklifts safely and according to policy
Collect and transport trash, soiled linen, and regulated waste to designated areas
Maintain cleanliness and organization of EVS closets, carts, and equipment
Stock supplies such as paper goods and soap across assigned areas
Perform floor care, including stripping, refinishing, and carpet shampooing as needed
Monitor and report safety hazards, equipment issues, or maintenance concerns promptly
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude
