About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor, performs a variety of cleaning duties for the hospital, clinic, and/or office, including walls, floors, equipment, bath areas, furniture, ceilings, elevators, staircases, windows and blinds, restrooms, vents, light fixtures using universal precautions and appropriate equipment. Responsible to maintain confidential patient information.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the ARH Housekeeping Orientation Program (32 hours) required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with nursing staff and supervisors to clean occupied rooms first, inspect empty rooms, and respond to emergency cleaning needs and spills.
  • Cleans patient rooms daily, including damp mopping or vacuuming floors, spot cleaning stains, dusting furniture, ledges, and bed tables, and removing debris.
  • Empties, washes, and relines wastebaskets.
  • Washes walls and windows.
  • Uses appropriate chemicals and techniques when cleaning restrooms.
  • Cleans basins, commodes, tubs, showers, mirrors, soap dishes, water pipes, and exterior restroom surfaces.
  • Dusts ledges, damp mops floors, washes walls, and replenishes toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap dispensers.
  • Performs periodic cleaning of high ledges, ceiling fixtures, light fixtures, vents, doors, showers, and commodes subject to mineral deposits.
  • Dry mops, damp mops, or machine scrubs corridors and elevator landings according to assigned schedules.
  • Sweeps stairwells and washes corridor and landing walls.
  • Performs bonnet cleaning or extraction of carpeted areas as assigned.
  • Inspects equipment condition upon sign-out and cleans equipment upon return, reporting maintenance and repair needs.
  • Assists with meeting set-ups, hanging curtains, collecting trash, hazardous waste, and recyclable materials.
  • Washes trash containers in assigned areas.
  • Maintains all floors.
  • Maintains all carpets.
  • Sets up meetings, hangs curtains, and checks equipment condition.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and demonstrates understanding of responsibilities related to general safety, department safety, and specific job-related hazards.
  • Follows hospital exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • Promotes effective working relationships and functions as a productive member of the department and hospital team.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees.
  • Continuously displays a positive, customer-focused attitude and supports the hospital’s customer service initiatives.
