The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Environmental Assessment has a vacancy. Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field; OR A master’s degree or doctorate in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field.

Responsibilities

• Lead remediation reviews — Serve as team lead for remediation sites, reviewing investigation, corrective action, and monitoring work plans in accordance with RECAP and applicable regulations.
• Perform field inspections of remedial activities, including soil borings, monitoring wells, sampling, and treatment installations.
• Communicate with facility representatives to negotiate changes, approve reports, and ensure compliance with timelines and regulatory requirements.
• Complete required HAZWOPER, ethics, sexual harassment, and technical remediation trainings; engage in on-the-job training with senior staff.
• Attend meetings with regulated entities to present departmental positions on assessments and corrective actions.
