About The Position

The Environmental Scientist role involves a combination of field and office work, focusing on environmental sampling, data collection, and system operations. The position requires communication with various stakeholders, planning and executing sampling for different environmental media, documenting field activities, and assisting with the operation and maintenance of remediation systems. The role demands reliability, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Geology or Environmental Science or related field (chemistry, biology, etc.) is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • A valid Driver's License is required for insurability purposes.
  • Proficiency with standard applications in the Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

  • One to five years of environmental consulting and remediation experience.
  • Soil Sampling experience.
  • Groundwater Sampling experience.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Confined space certification.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with Project Manager, clients, field technicians, and vendors/subcontractors.
  • Plan sampling and data collection for air, vapor, soil, surface water, stormwater, groundwater, hazardous waste, non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs), and wastewater for laboratory testing.
  • Compile and review daily paperwork to document field activities (field logbook, soil/rock boring logs, well construction diagrams, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain mechanical and electronic systems including pumps, remediation systems, and monitoring equipment.
  • Collect environmental media for laboratory analysis (soil, groundwater, surface water, vapor, air, stormwater, and wastewater).
  • Oversee planning for drilling operations, monitoring/recovery/injection well construction, and remedy construction.
  • Perform soil logging.
  • Operate and maintain groundwater pump and treat systems and amendment injection systems.
  • Document, package, and ship environmental samples.
  • Manage, characterize, and handle waste (hazardous and non-hazardous).
