About The Position

Cedarville Engineering Group (CEG) is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Pottstown, PA office. This role supports a variety of government projects and involves both field and office work. The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for collecting samples, collecting field data, writing reports, and supporting natural resource and stormwater management projects. CEG is a 50-person firm specializing in design-build civil infrastructure and environmental remediation projects for federal agencies. The company offers training and supports necessary certifications, including OSHA certifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in the field across varying conditions and terrain.
  • OSHA certifications (HAZWOPER, OSHA 10/30/40) required for fieldwork — CEG will provide training to obtain them if not already held.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks as project needs change.
  • Detail-oriented and disciplined about data quality and documentation.
  • Able to work independently in the field and collaboratively with the team.
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 25%).
  • Willingness to obtain access to secured federal and military installations.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check.
  • REAL ID required.

Nice To Haves

  • Open to a range of experience — recent graduates through experienced scientists are encouraged to apply.
  • Field, sampling, or environmental project experience is helpful but not required; we will train the right person.
  • Prior experience on federal or government projects.
  • Experience with soil and water sampling and chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Familiarity with natural resource or stormwater management programs.
  • Strong technical writing skills — turning field data into a clean report is a real plus.
  • Experience with GIS or data management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Collect soil and water samples on government and military project sites following established protocols and chain-of-custody requirements.
  • Perform field data collection, measurements, and observations, and maintain accurate field notes and logs.
  • Operate and calibrate field sampling and monitoring equipment.
  • Support site investigations, environmental monitoring, and remediation activities.
  • Write clear, accurate technical reports, field summaries, and supporting documentation.
  • Compile, organize, and quality-check field and laboratory data.
  • Contribute to permit applications, regulatory submittals, and project deliverables.
  • Support natural resource management projects, including wetlands, habitat, and environmental assessments.
  • Support stormwater management projects and MS4 and related regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and interdisciplinary teams to keep work moving.
  • Follow all site health and safety plans and federal installation requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain OSHA certifications (HAZWOPER, OSHA 10/30/40 as applicable).
  • Help keep the field team safe and compliant on every site.
