Requirements

  • Bachelor and/or Masters degree in biological sciences, environmental sciences, environmental planning or similar discipline/closely related field
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience performing core duties and responsibilities
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Candidate must provide research and writing examples, as applicable
  • Valid driver's license is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mitigation plan development is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with flora and fauna of Texas, including the Arid Southwest is desired.
  • Consulting or agency experience preferred
  • Competence with ArcGIS and GPS equipment is desired but not required
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with the project team and clients

Responsibilities

  • Providing subject matter support in regulatory compliance processes of NEPA, Clean Water Act Endangered Species Act, and other federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Leads and/or performs field investigations and reporting for water-related documentation, including USACE wetland and/or waters of the U.S. delineations, OHWM and MHW delineations and determinations, condition and functional assessments, and USACE and USCG regulatory permitting.
  • Leads and/or perform field investigations and report for biological habitat assessments. Knowledge and familiarity with flora and fauna of Texas, including the Arid Southwest is desired. Has a strong understanding and knowledge of plant ecology and identification, as well as a proficiency in faunal identification.
  • Assists in the preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements for transportation or other infrastructure (water, wastewater, etc.) projects in accordance with Texas Department of Transportation or other state/federal agency standards.
  • Performing/supporting in other environmental technical studies and report preparation, as appropriate.
  • Assists in public and agency outreach.
  • Working with an interdisciplinary team of technical specialists.
  • Assisting with proposals and business development.
  • Stays up to date on regulatory changes and establish working relationships with regulatory officials.
  • Participate in client functions, trade shows and conferences.
  • Must be able to travel as need for field work.
