About The Position

The Environmental Scientist works on projects of varying complexity, including multi-media and multi-contaminant remediations. This role involves planning and executing field activities, analyzing laboratory data and measurements, and preparing technical documents under the guidance of a Project Manager/LSRP. The position requires adherence to project goals, timelines, and budgets, as well as communication with clients and support for Project Managers/LSRPs in technical meetings and with the NJDEP. The role may involve working in challenging environmental conditions, including hot climates, elevated areas requiring fall protection, and potentially noisy environments requiring hearing protection. High levels of personal protective equipment may be necessary, and a physical examination will be conducted to ensure the ability to wear specific respiratory and protective gear.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree in geology, biology, environmental science or similar science degree
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
  • Flexible to work outside of normal business hours as required
  • 40-hr OSHA training
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Able to carry equipment, as much as 30lbs unassisted.
  • Able to push or pull items.
  • Able to reach above head.
  • Able to bend at the knee.
  • Able to climb ladders to reach high areas.
  • Able to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Able to squat, kneel or crouch in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Able to detect burning sensations on skin etc.
  • Vision must be correctable to at least 20:40 with ability to distinguish colors with good depth perception and peripheral vision.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional licenses (NJ Subsurface Evaluator/UST Closure License) are desirable
  • OSHA 40 HAZWOPER Certified

Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementing field activities.
  • Evaluating laboratory data and measurements collected during field work.
  • Preparing technical documents under the direction of a Project Manager/LSRP.
  • Establishing and adhering to project goals, timeframes, and budgets.
  • Communicating with clients.
  • Providing support to Project Managers/LSRPs in technical meetings/NJDEP.
  • Designing and implementing remedial activities.
  • Coordinating and implementing field activities including the installation of soil borings, overburden and bedrock monitoring wells and the collection of soil, groundwater, and vapor intrusion investigation samples.
  • Interpreting data and lab results and preparing technical reports including NJDEP PAR, SIR, RIR, RAW, RAR and soil and groundwater permit applications and due diligence related documents.
  • Communicating with clients and subcontractors.
