About The Position

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking an Environmental Scientist / Engineer within our Environment department located in Snow Lake, MB. The successful applicant will be on a Monday-Friday schedule, with occasional scheduled weekend coverage. It will be based in the vibrant community of Snow Lake, MB, with relocation packages available. The position includes a competitive compensation package which includes benefits, pension, profit sharing, employee share purchase plan among others.

Requirements

Possession of a diploma or degree in environmental sciences or related discipline preferred.
Demonstrates self motivation, a commitment to safety and teamwork, and a proven aptitude for problem solving.
Demonstrates flexibility and a strong work ethic when adapting to unpredictable field conditions, shifting field schedules, and changes in regulatory requirements
Must be able to conduct physical work in outdoor and remote environments.
Must be proficient in Microsoft excel and word.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Ability to operate ATVs, snow machines, boats are an asset.
Ability to manuver a truck and trailer safely is an asset.

Responsibilities

Responsible for environmental monitoring, operation of water treatment facilities, government compliance sampling (i.e. water, air, and soil quality), and calibration/maintenance of environmental equipment
Reviews lab reports to ensure data is valid and in compliance with regulatory limits.
Maintain sampling data and prepare draft reports related to environmental programs.
Conduct site inspections in order to assess potential environmental impacts
