About The Position

WSP's Remediation Program Management (RPM) team is seeking an Environmental Scientist with a minimum of three years of experience in the contaminated sites regulatory framework to support remediation programs across Canada’s Northern Territories. This role involves planning and delivering two annual field programs, participating in fieldwork, and preparing follow-up technical reports. The position offers stability, variety, and strong growth opportunities within a team that has over 15 years of experience delivering contaminated site program management services. The projects span coast to coast to coast and range widely in size and complexity, requiring efficient field execution and close collaboration. The role is part of a close-knit team within a national organization, providing access to deep technical expertise, dedicated mentorship, career progression, and employee resource groups.

Requirements

  • University degree or diploma in engineering, or natural/earth sciences.
  • Minimum 3 years of field experience in contaminated site assessments.
  • Experience working in remote locations and/or camp settings.
  • Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace/Possess a safety-conscious attitude.
  • Strong field experience and willingness to work as a team in remote settings.
  • Technical ability to troubleshoot and brainstorm to ensure environmental data collected meet project objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the territories is considered a strong asset.
  • Professional designation or a professional in training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a team environment, working closely with Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Senior Project Directors/Technical Leads and Field Technicians/Scientists/Engineers.
  • Collaborate with the team to prepare Health and Safety plans and Emergency response plans for field programs.
  • Train junior staff in environmental practices including Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, oversight of remediation, and on-site specific health and safety.
  • Prepare, compile data for, and write reports, including preparing conclusions and recommendations.
  • Work with and provide support to other members of the RPM Team in sharing health and safety, project management, project completion, and client service responsibilities.
  • Work in the field in remote locations during two field programs (winter and summer), working in shifts of approximately two weeks on and two weeks holiday to a maximum of three shifts.
