The Division of Environmental Protection is seeking to fill an Environmental Scientist 4 for the Las Vegas office. The incumbent will serve as the Supervisor in the department’s Bureau of Federal Facilities. This position will be responsible for leading a team of environmental scientists for assessment, inspection, and enforcement of State and Federal regulations and agreements at U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) sites in the state. Candidates will be responsible for review and commenting on remediation, waste and monitoring documentation. Candidates will additionally be involved in writing and enforcing hazardous waste, solid waste, mixed waste, water pollution control and safe drinking water related permits as required per State of Nevada and Federal regulations for the Nevada National Security Site. The candidate must apply for Q security clearance to review classified waste streams and travel throughout the DOE complex to review waste streams that may be destined for the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and waste environmental programs.
