About The Position

Join CDM Smith's Providence office as an Environmental Professional and take on a dynamic role that combines field expertise with technical leadership. In this position, you will perform basic to high complexity analysis and interpretation of site data, assist with the application of site data to further the preferred project approach, and conduct field site investigations under light supervision. You will also perform soil, water, air, etc. sampling, wetland delineation, wildlife/habitat surveys, and similar site investigations and documentation of results. Under light supervision, you will prepare environmental studies (e.g., NEPA documents, field reports, feasibility studies, etc.) of basic to high complexity. You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and construction staff to implement the approved approach (e.g., restoration, remediation, etc.), provide advice and expertise on selected project approach, and perform oversight of construction activities to ensure project compliance with permit or other regulatory conditions. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff, mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm, and may supervise the work of junior staff on project work. You will contribute to the firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc., and submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. You will perform other duties as required and may create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline.
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Intermediate knowledge of standard field protocols for their respective discipline.
  • Intermediate knowledge of scientific methods and processes.
  • Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of regulations (federal, state, and local) governing environmental review and project implementation.
  • An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
