About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Scientist 1 to assist Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. This role involves significant fieldwork, including training to oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, construction and operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys. A strong focus on health and safety during fieldwork is essential. The position requires regional business travel up to 4-5 days per week on average, with occasional travel within the U.S. for up to two-three weeks at a time. Successful candidates will be adaptable, creative problem solvers, possess strong communication skills, be self-motivated, exhibit independent thinking, and work effectively both independently and in a team setting.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related field

  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GA EPD environmental regulations and SOPs
  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 HR / 8 HR training
  • Previous industry, consulting, or regulatory internship experience
  • 1 year experience in the field is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
  • Overseeing drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation.
  • Conducting groundwater sampling.
  • Subcontractor oversight.
  • Construction and operation and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Performing vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
  • Conducting fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.
  • Conducting field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling in the field in accordance with Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GAEPD) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
