The Environmental Response Unit (ERU) is dedicated to reducing casualties, property loss, and environmental impacts stemming from chemical accidents, fires, and various pollutant discharges. In this role, you will be responsible for the coordination of resources and actions aimed at the preparation for, response to, and investigation of pollutant or hazardous material incidents and risks. Our team ensures continuous readiness while operating on a 24/7 basis to provide an immediate response to any environmental emergency. This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. Ability to be on call and able to work anytime in a 24-hour period, all days of week. The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Across our many agencies, boards, and commissions, many State employees participate in the State’s Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes, in offices, and in hoteling spaces. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.
