About The Position

Precoat Metals is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) professional for their Kingsbury plant. This role involves partnering with plant management to foster a strong safety culture. The successful candidate will monitor working and environmental conditions to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, enforce company health, safety, and environmental guidelines, inspect workspaces, and provide safety training. The position also requires ensuring multimedia environmental compliance, including air, water, and waste regulations. Key responsibilities include overseeing forklift and crane compliance, maintaining training records, chairing the Safety Committee, enforcing safety equipment usage, administering new hire safety orientations, maintaining OSHA logs, managing emergency response plans, conducting safety audits, handling incident investigations and reporting, managing worker's compensation claims, and acting as a liaison between corporate and local EHS management. The role also involves managing wastewater treatment operations, ensuring compliance with air pollution control equipment, managing VOC/HAP emissions reporting, maintaining SPCC/SWPPP documentation, preparing various environmental reports (Tier II, Hazardous Waste, TRI, Emissions Inventory), managing hazardous waste, used oil, and universal waste, performing inspections, managing the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, writing environmental operating procedures, and conducting environmental management committee meetings. The position requires developing positive relationships with employees to drive safety behavior and cultural changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in the area of safety and/or environmental management, manufacturing, engineering or similar preferred.
  • 3 plus years’ experience in workplace EHS management.
  • Experience in health, safety, and environmental in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety guidelines for the workplace.
  • Knowledge of CAA, CWA, RCRA, and SPCC regulations.
  • Familiar with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Able to read and interpret OSHA documents and internal policies.
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring working & environmental conditions to ensure compliance with state and federal safety & environmental regulations.
  • Ensuring company health, safety and environmental guidelines are followed.
  • Inspecting workspace conditions to ensure they meet safety standards.
  • Providing workplace safety training.
  • Ensuring multimedia environmental compliance of the facility with respect to all applicable air, water, and waste environmental regulations.
  • Overseeing Forklift and Crane compliance & training program.
  • Maintaining training certification, recertification and daily inspection records.
  • Ensuring proper training of employees on safety and health requirements and policies to ensure compliance.
  • Charing the Safety Committee and conducting monthly meetings.
  • Observing plant activities and conditions.
  • Regularly monitoring for health and safety policy violations.
  • Enforcing prescribed use of safety equipment (such as PPE) and the proper application of required safety procedures.
  • Ensuring regulatory safety compliance & implementing required improvements; recommending changes to current safety policies and procedures.
  • Administering New Hire Safety Orientation to all new associates.
  • Maintaining OSHA logs & reporting.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and updating the plans as needed per regulatory requirements.
  • Managing and conducting quarterly safety audits of facility safety related items.
  • Owning the accurate documentation of these inspections in the maintenance management system.
  • Managing emergency medical treatment, reporting, and record keeping in the event of injury inducing incidents.
  • Managing the Health Bridge services & working with the insurance company to oversee worker’s compensation claims.
  • Investigating incidents and spills and preparing reports; ensuring proper dissemination of reports.
  • Tracking incidents for management and issuing summary reports.
  • Identifying potential causes for accidents and recommending changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents.
  • Acting as liaison between corporate EHS management team & local facility management.
  • Maintaining all safety-related documentation (meeting minutes, drill logs, certification records, training records, policies, etc.) and updating regularly to meet all potential audit requirements.
  • Assisting in gathering information in response to OSHA or other regulatory agency requests.
  • Acting as the lead participant in the event of I/OSHA inspection events.
  • Providing and administering weekly safety briefing topics and resources for plant supervisors.
  • Managing, tracking, and directing the Health and Safety Managements System for the facility and providing support to management.
  • Developing productive personal relationships with employees at all levels to affect positive safety behavioral and cultural changes.
  • Overseeing the wastewater treatment plant operations & ensuring compliance with treated effluent permitted parameters.
  • Preparing and submitting wastewater Discharge Monitoring Reports.
  • Ensuring all air pollution control equipment are operated properly.
  • Preparing and submitting Quarterly/Semi-Annual monitoring reports, and Annual Air Permit Compliance Certification to the state.
  • Ensuring paint VOC/HAP information is entered properly in the AS400 database to facilitate accurate reporting of VOC and HAP emissions.
  • Maintaining and updating SPCC/SWPPP.
  • Preparing and submitting Tier II Reports, Hazardous Waste Reports, TRI reports, Annual Emissions Inventory Reports.
  • Ensuring hazardous waste containers are properly marked, labeled, and dated, performing weekly 90-Day hazardous waste storage area inspections, coordinating hazardous waste pick-up and disposal, ensuring hazardous waste manifests are filled out properly.
  • Managing used Oil and Universal Waste.
  • Ensuring used oil containers are properly labeled and closed, ensuring universal waste containers are properly managed, labeled, and dated with accumulation start date.
  • Performing Opacity/Stormwater/SPCC inspections.
  • Managing the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Writing and updating Environmental Operating Procedures.
  • Conducting Quarterly Environmental Management Committee Meetings.
  • Developing and communicating statistical trend analysis to the management team and coordinating action plans and responses to address findings.
