About The Position

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. Working under the direction of the ES&H supervisor, an ES&H Specialist I performs general environmental and/or safety support services, investigations, analyses, and other directed assignments as either a member of a team or as an investigator. Working in support of the 412 Maintenance Group (MXG), provide Unit Environmental Coordinator duties to include but not limited to: Conduct compliance site inspections at several MXG shops throughout Edwards AFB. These compliance sites include: Hazardous waste initial accumulation points and accumulation sites. Hazardous Material Pharmacies and storage locations. Air Permitted equipment and locations. Petroleum product storage tanks. One Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) site. Liaison between the 412 MXG and Edwards AFB Environmental Management regarding all environmental issues. Conduct environmental briefings to MXG personnel to include the twice monthly New Hires brief. Support 412 MXG and environmental management during all regulatory visits and inspections. Support permit required sampling (annual carbon sampling and air flow study). Implement and oversee annual subcontract to inspect, maintain and repair over 30 HAZMAT and HAZWASTE storage fire suppression systems. Prepare monthly report that details hazardous waste generated, organizations that generated the waste, and the amount that each organization is to be billed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in an ES&H-related field (i.e., engineering, chemistry, biology, or other science) is preferred, or an in-depth, working knowledge of the technical concepts, principles, and requirements associated with the work unit is required for this position.
  • Graduation from a two- to four-year technical institute or college or from equivalent formal technical training or military equivalent and three (3) or more years of experience in a directly related technical working environment.
  • Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications

  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work
  • Must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Assess and mitigate workplace hazards, perform study and analysis, and workplace inspections
  • Conduct mishap and incident investigations and generate reports
  • Interpret applicable regulations and ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Air Force directives, and local safety policies and procedures
  • Apply confined spaces, lockout/tagout, hazardous waste requirements, and industrialized operation procedures
  • Identify and evaluate environmental or safety hazards and make recommendations for corrective actions
  • Participate in informal reviews, inspections, and audits using established procedures
  • Assist in the maintenance and inventory of equipment and systems
  • Analyze data gathered from literature or collected from investigations
  • Maintain familiarity with the statutory requirements related to the environmental, safety, and/or health regulations
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required
