About The Position

SLR Consulting (Canada) is seeking an Environmental Risk Assessor to join their national Risk Assessment and Toxicology team. This role involves working on contaminated sites projects, gaining provincial and federal regulatory experience, and developing skills in technical scope development, proposal preparation, and project management. Requirements

  • Graduate degree in biology, toxicology, chemistry, or related scientific field
  • 5- 10+ years of experience in preparation of human health and/or ecological risk assessments
  • Working knowledge of both human health and ecological risk assessment
  • Demonstrated analytical, data management, and spreadsheet development skills
  • Familiarity with interpreting biological and toxicological studies (e.g., benthic community assessments, toxicity tests etc.) is an asset
  • Professional registration (i.e., P. Bio., P. Ag.. P.Chem.) or ability to obtain registration
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to occasionally travel to sites/clients

Responsibilities

  • Engage in project planning, implementation, analysis and reporting for human health and ecological risk assessments, risk management plans, performance verification plans, etc. under various provincial, territorial, and federal frameworks
  • Evaluation of tissue and toxicity data in support of detailed human and ecological risk assessment evaluations
  • Evaluation of site physical attributes, receptor exposure assumptions and toxicity information and completion of exposure and risk models
  • Preparation of site-specific conceptual site models through the consolidation and interpretation of field and analytical data
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare high-quality technical reports and effectively communicate findings to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to proposal writing and provide technical support to projects led by other disciplines, such as site assessment and ecology.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Maintain adherence to quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
