About The Position

The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy is hiring an Environmental Quality Analyst for the Jackson District Office. At the EQA 9-P11 level, the role investigates and supports remediation of assigned basic environmental contamination sites under Parts 201 and 213 of Michigan’s Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act. Basic sites typically involve a single contaminant release, standard investigative methods and remedial actions, fewer stakeholders, low public controversy, and limited coordination or oversight needs. At the EQA 12 level, the position manages investigation, remediation, and enforcement for the most complex environmental contamination sites under Parts 201 and 213 of NREPA and other applicable state and federal laws and regulations. The position participates on public meeting panels and responds to public comments, serves as the point of contact for assigned sites, negotiates remediation with private parties and their representatives, participates in Technical and Program Support team meetings, and reviews work plans and reports presented by E-level staff at District Peer Review Meetings. It also mentors E-level staff. Applicants must provide a cover letter, resume, and official college transcripts if applicable. Certain positions may require a criminal history background check. Reasonable accommodations are available for applicants who need them during the application or selection process.
